The Bible is very clear about avoiding confidence in our plans. Solomon wrote, “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring” (Proverbs 27:1). A Latin phrase brings a perspective that focuses on the sovereignty of God in our daily schedules, “Deo Volente,” or God willing.
The Corona Virus has disrupted lives throughout the world and is making an impact in our local communities. The President, state Governor, and other local authorities are strongly requesting assistance from individuals and organizations to cooperate in efforts to contain this infectious disease. The Elders have made a number of decisions that impact the ministries of Grace Chapel. Until further notice, the following policies will be observed as we strive to protect the sheep and also obey our government officials.
There will be no Wednesday night services until further notice. Susan Karg will be providing some options for parents to use with their children in learning Bible truths in the weeks ahead. Youth through adults are encouraged to watch the last three episodes in “The Easter Experience” found on Right Now Media in the coming Wednesday nights. Tonight’s lesson is “My Life Has A Plan.” If additional Wednesday Night services are canceled please begin with Lesson 12 of “Marks Of A Healthy Church” by Mark Dever on “The Great Commission.” Prayer needs will be emailed out to everyone with current requests.
There will be no Sunday School for the foreseeable future. Again, Susan Karg will provide some options for children. Youth through adult are encouraged to select a parable video by R. C. Sproul on RightNow Media. The Sunday morning Worship Service will continue but in a different format. The service will be live streamed at the usual 10:30 am time slot to be viewed on your computer. (Check back on Sunday morning for a link to the stream.) To limit the number of people in the sanctuary, there will be no music. Only an Elder will be present each week to pray, along with a few technicians, and Pastor Randy to preach. The series, “Pit Stops In Life” regarding Joseph will continue this coming Sunday. The weekly bulletin will come to your email box. The weekly email will also continue coming to you.
At least one person on staff will be available at the office Monday through Friday from 8 am to 3 pm to assist with any questions by phone or by visit. The locked offering box will be in the church office. You may bring your offering to the office or mail it. For online giving, please visit our Giving page and follow the instructions.
As for Growth Groups, Bible Studies, and other gatherings such as showers or birthday parties scheduled in the coming weeks, the Elders recommend using your own discretion on whether to meet. That advice is for both individuals and the group itself. If meeting, please use best health practices and by using social distancing in your interactions. Unless the concerns for the virus improve prior to April 4, the Easter outreach will be cancelled as well as the Good Friday Service and the Easter Breakfast on April 12.
Let’s work together through this crisis knowing that God is in control. The psalmist said, “God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne” (Psalm 47:8). Meanwhile, if you have any questions or needs please contact your shepherding Elder.
